Dr. Rich is an excellent professional working closely with my daughter Katie to work on job skills and emotional issues related to her work at the Dream Catcher Meadows.  For 6 months, Katie and I have volunteered at the farm with an emphasis on emotional and social development necessary for normal functioning in the world.  Katie has come from being shy to a bloosuming girl working almost independently in her routine tasks of animal care at the farm.  I highly recommend Dr. Rich because of her sensitivity and expertise is providing effective and positive therapuetic opportunities for those with disabilities.

My wife and I have been bringing our 11 year old to Dr. Rich since late 2020. We have found that she has been a conscientious, professional caregiver throughout that time.  Clearly, she regards her work as a labor of love.  Our child has benefitted greatly over these years.  Especially helpful has been the experience of participating with a small group of children in animal care at her farm.  Highly preferable to therapy via Zoom meeting in our opinion. Dr. Rich has been a lifesaver in our struggle to find the correct therapy and treatment for our adopted daughter from Ukraine who suffers from fetal alcohol syndrome disorder (FASD). We had taken our daughter to other therapists, but none seem to truly understand the issues and struggles that our daughter has encountered. But Dr. Rich knows the precise issues that our daughter has had, and was able to devise a plan to help her deal with the effects of FASD. She worked with us to obtain the correct IEP at our daughter's middle school, and even attended school meetings (at no charge) when the IEP's were initially being developed.

Dr. Rich has given us the best advice possible for parents of children with FASD and has guided us in procedures to obtain additional help as she continued through high school, and then after she had finished high school.

I would highly recommend Dr. Rich's treatment if you have a child with FASD. She involves herself personally with her patients, and even has farm animals and free weekend events that somehow has magnificently helped our daughter progress through her situation

Dr. Rich is a compassionate psychiatrist who is very knowledgable in the area of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. She has helped our 21 year old daughter tremendously.
We first adopted our daughter when she was 10 years old, living in an orphanage in Ukraine. She had a great deal of difficulty adjusting and getting along with others at home and at school. She also had significant learning disabilities. We took her to various therapists specializing in adoption and no one seemed to be able to help her. After some research we found Dr. Rich and our daughter has thrived under her care.  She is dedicated and passionate about helping individuals who are impacted by FASD. My daughter loves the animals on her farm and they have helped her to become a more compassionate and empathetic person.  We live about one hour away from her practice but it is worth the drive. Dr. Rich has saved both my kids from the uneducated school system, as well as other providers  who simply treat the symptoms and not their cause.  FASD is not a mental health condition, yet most psychiatrists and therapists treat it that way.  Dr. Rich has taught us, (over the past 6 years), how to best advocate for them as well as ways to support their growth over time.  I send EVERYONE with a child/young adult with FASD to Susan, even folks from outside MD.  She undid so much damage that we didn't even realize was happening.

Dr. Rich is a competent, compassionate professional who excels at treating individuals with FASD. Her approach eliminates the “guesswork” we encountered with other, well-meaning medical providers and therapists who nonetheless lacked her expertise. She encourages my kids to live meaningfully and with purpose and joy, and her treatment plans support that. I trust her to give my teens the care and direction they need as they move towards adulthood. Our son, whom we adopted from Russia at the age of nine months, has been seeing Dr. Rich since August 2020. I heard her speak, and realized from listening to her explanation of ND-PAE (Neuro-Developmental Prenatal Alcohol Exposure) that I needed to speak with her about our son. He is 21 now, and has had a lifetime of emotional, behavioral, sensory and cognitive difficulties. Before talking to Dr. Rich, my son had been diagnosed with an alphabet soup of psychiatric disorders. He was on four heavy duty psychotropic medications. I started to suspect FASD a few years ago, but no one could tell me anything about diagnosing the condition, or whether the treatment for it would be any different from the treatment he was already receiving. Dr. Rich is an expert on ND-PAE, and as she explained the symptoms, I felt that she was describing my son.
Finally, there was an explanation for my son's difficulties that made sense. He had developed a life-threatening condition that turned out to be a side effect from one of his medications.The first order of business, after testing to confirm his diagnosis of ND-PAE, has been to slowly titrate down on that medication. It seems to be working.
It turns out that the treatment for ND-PAE is very different from his previous diagnoses. The medications he's been on have been making his condition worse. Our goal is to take him off all four of those heavy duty medications and add in medications and supplements that will work together to bring him to optimal health.
Dr. Rich understands my son better than any previous practitioner. She has a way with him that has enabled her to continue treating him. There have been some hard truths that she has had to share with him, but she  does it in such away that she is able to keep my son's trust. She is extremely knowledgeable, very skilled, highly experienced, and she is incredibly compassionate to our whole family. She goes far above and beyond expectations to help our family in any way she can, and to give our son the chance to have the best life he can live. I cannot recommend her more highly.
