Over my 49-year career as an internationally published hairstylist and makeup artist, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the world’s top media outlets, performers, and brands. In 2019, during a Vogue Italia shoot where every product on set required a signed sustainability guarantee, I was personally confronted with the pervasive issue of greenwashing in the beauty industry; not one of the brands I had worked with could provide a signed guarantee. That moment exposed the truth: the brands I had long trusted were not living up to their claims.
