About Imagine An Athlete | Youth Athlete Development in Maryland
Imagine An Athlete (IAA) is a youth mentorship and performance program rooted in Maryland, designed to empower student-athletes through holistic support. From the field to the classroom to future careers, IAA prepares students to thrive during and beyond their athletic journeys.
Founded in 2019 by Brandon Gulley and Terrance Brownlee Jr., the organization grew from the Student Athlete Leadership Academy into a full-scale initiative addressing mental health, financial literacy, academic preparation, and professional advancement. With deep roots in Anne Arundel County, the founders created IAA to offer student-athletes the tools they didn’t have growing up—building a bridge from ambition to opportunity.
What Does Imagine An Athlete Offer?
- IAA provides strength and skill development programs that help athletes increase endurance, improve technique, and build confidence—both in-season and off.
Mental Health & Wellness
- Mental resilience is just as important as physical training. IAA offers supportive frameworks that identify athlete-specific mental health needs and engage mentors, families, and coaches in the wellness process.
- From managing money to navigating student loans, athletes gain the knowledge to plan their futures. IAA also offers career exploration services to help students uncover paths beyond sports.
Academic Support & Test Prep
- SAT/ACT prep, FAFSA guidance, and educational consulting ensure athletes are just as prepared for school as they are for sports.
